A Talk with the Doctor

⬅️20s on the left ➡️30s on the right

I had moved to the cities after college. It was time for me to make my yearly appointment and I thought I’d be a big girl and schedule it with a doctor where I called home then (not my hometown). 👩‍⚕️

The doctor came in and we were chatting about life. She then brought up a healthy BMI and what healthy foods were, etc.

I thought this was standard protocol with a new doctor NOT that she was talking to ME!!! 😮😮 I didn’t realize how out of hand I let my health get. I also didn’t realize that was the number on the scale (not that it tells the whole story anyway). But wow, here I was having a conversation with someone I had just met about taking better care of me.

After that appointment, I joined a gym. 🏋️‍♀️🏋️‍♀️ I went the next couple of months at least my 12 times so I could get a discount from my health insurance. #savingmoney

What happened next? I lost the motivation. I wanted instant results. I then would run in and swipe my card or maybe go tanning. A few months later and I was cancelling my membership saying I was too busy for this anyway.

That cycle continued for the next 10+ years….

Then an accountability group came into my life. I realized motivation and instant external results weren’t the things to be looking for after all. I realized I needed to make a decision and KEEP going. Digging deep into WHY I wanted to take care of me. Then keep taking steps. Even if I didn’t “see” anything happening.

Sound familiar? Maybe it’s time you jumped on the positivity train with me. I’ve got room for YOU. I’m only a message away. 💌💌💌
