Kid-Friendly Hiking Trail while in the Dells – Spring Break

We went for round two at the Dells over spring break again this year. This year we mixed things up a bit from last year. Last year over spring break we stayed at the Kalahari Resort and the kids LOVED the wave pool. Sven and I were looking for something a little more relaxing/laid back this year and Sven went to work researching places to stay. He booked us at the Chula Vista Resort. Right when we walked into our hotel room and saw the balcony view – I knew it was going to be great. I love a good view!

Of course it was awesome not to see as much snow. This year has been crazy! Once we were settled into the hotel we had to go check out the indoor waterpark area – all three kids approved (we had an extra again this year – Owen and Molly’s cousin joined the fun).

After a successful start to the trip the kids and I decided to get some fresh air by hiking one of the mornings. We went in the morning to avoid all of the mud in the afternoon when the temperature went up. The hotel was a little over a mile away from Chapel Gorge Trail – we decided to check that one out.

Overall, it is a great trail to enjoy the outdoors with the kids. The only down-fall we encountered was the ice at the beginning of the trail. The kids turned it into an adventure and grabbed some sticks to help with walking. I’m sure the ice isn’t a problem for that long of a time. We took the edges of the path to avoid some of the ice.

The trail is under two miles and offers beautiful scenery even in the early spring. I would image that stays true for all seasons. If you find yourself in Wisconsin Dells with kids (or without) and want to enjoy the fresh air with a hike – go check it out.
